” A.F. Denning award for outstanding service to this lodge”

The Past Masters tankard presented in 1937 to WB Dr A.F. Denning (a founder and the Lodge’s first Junior Deacon) was donated by his daughter in 2013.

The principal officers decided to use it as an award for outstanding service to this lodge and it now bears that inscription.

It will remain in the ownership of the lodge and be kept by the immediate past master and raised in a toast to our founder members when our past master’s tankards are honoured at each festive board.

A very worthy first recipient of the award was initiated into this lodge in1973, installed as our master in 1979 and subsequently spent 22 years as our treasurer.  He managed our finances with great care and no little humour.  He continually enhanced the lodge’s reputation not least with his substantial support of the Provincial Library and Museum. He has worked tirelessly for the lodge and the painstaking work he carried out when we received the generous bequest from Bro Harry Ellis is just one example.
